Pucker Up!

Projects for Week 1 of the craft adventure are all about the pucker! I've seen several recipes for lip gloss and toothpaste recently. Jason and I both like to know where our food and cleaning products come from... and what they contain! On the Food Revolution this past Friday, Jamie Oliver told parents to choose foods that contained ingredients that they recognized. A good rule of thumb seems to be: if you don't know how to say an ingredient (or if you don't know what it is!), don't put it into your body. Now, the Big Ass Book of Crafts claims that once an individual has used this homemade toothpaste for a week, you can actually taste the chemicals in regular toothpaste if you were to use it again. Uh, that's really gross. I'm certain I don't like the "taste" of chemicals. So, here are my first projects for the week. Let me know how you're eliminating nasty chemicals from your home and diet! :)

Welcome Back!

So, Jason has abandoned this blog for his own daily blogging experience, which somehow has ended up sharing with his following what I make for dinner and which tv shows we enjoy during the week. Married, sober, broke life isn't really all that exciting... at least not to everyone. We actually find plenty of ways to keep boredom at bay. To fight the boredom blues (and because I'm finally on some medication that allows me to live a normal life again!), I have been craftin' up a storm lately. I thought it might be fun to commandeer this here blog and upload some crafty creations. Last night, we purchased my new craft "bible" which has already provided endless inspiration. I'll learn how to blog from my iPhone later tonight when Jason tells you that (SPOILER ALERT) I made spaghetti for dinner and we sat around reading and listening to music tonight, so I can start uploading a weekly photo from the book on Sunday and then photos of my progress throughout the week. Happy craftin'!

Bear's gone home

So, I just finished the handoff of Bear to his new home. Lisa came to pick him up to take him to Barb. Here are some photos I have had left over:

Sad day. We'll miss him. Like I said before, we'll let you know any news about him when we get updates

Stairmasters

So, as of Recently, the newest thing for the puppies to do is to try to take on the stairs. Bear (previously named Little Buddy) has been the front runner in this endeavor, and Scarlett (previously Lil' Bit) is bringing up the rear. We do, however, let them try it on their own, since carrying 9 pounds of squirming puppies is getting harder and harder each day. Here's some video of Scarlett's latest attempt! She is very vocal about how scared she is, but she toughs it out anyways...

More to come soon!

New Puppy Names!

So, after much consideration on the names of our pups, we have decided that their birth names just aren't cutting the mustard. We've renamed our two, and left the naming up to the adoptive owners of the other two.

In birth order:
1:Previous Name: "Uno"
New Name: "Riley"
Staying/Going?: Going with Ginny Fuller, one of Naomi's friends from college.

2:
Previous Name: "Lil' Girl"
New Name: "Yoda"
Staying/Going?: always staying in our hearts:( (buried under the tree)

3:Previous Name: "Little Buddy"
New Name: "Bear/Butch" (originally changed to Bear, switched a couple days ago to Butch)
Staying/Going?: Going with Barb, one of Mom's friends

4:Previous Name: "Lil' Bit"
New Name: "Scarlett"
Staying/Going?: Staying:)

5:
Previous Name: "Rotty"
New Name: "Kona"
Staying/Going?: Staying:)

For the most part, the names all fit the dogs, which is a good thing. Bear will be leaving later today to go to his new home, so it's a sad but good day. We hope to still keep you updated on his story and progress, so when we get info, so will you!

Sad day.

Sadness has struck. On Saturday, we lost the Yoda, the runt. We decided to rename her, being as she needed a better name than the one we had bestowed upon her.

We knew something was wrong that morning when Scout brought Yoda up into the bed, seemingly urging us to fix her, as she sensed something was wrong.

The day went past, and Naomi continued to syringe feed her, trying to get her to gain some weight.

Naomi and I had just finished our dinner and headed up to feed the runt. During feeding, we noticed that she had a cleft palate. Upon inspecting the rest of the pups for cleft palates, we looked online to figure out if that truly was what we were dealing with. Once realizing that we had finally figured out what was wrong, we called the Emergency Vet Clinic, who said that we should go ahead and bring her in. by the time we got ourselves ready to go, she was gone. We went ahead and took her in just to make sure, and were confirmed of her passing.

She is now buried underneath the tree by our house:(
